Smear after child birth

I am due a smear but recently gave birth (3 months go) and have not had a period yet.

Does anyone know if i have to wait until my periods return. I have tried to contact gp surgery and reception do not know, someone was suppose to call back but have not

I was told six months. My periods did not return for about three months. I need to book mine!

I was told 3 months and duly went and was smeared and then got a letter saying they couldn't get a result and I'd have to go again in another 3 months! So I would wait til 6 months tbh.

I was told 12 weeks by my GP practice, and think it was probably nearer 4 or 5 months when I actually got it done.
