Best hand cream for hand dermatitis?

Hi all,
In mid July I finally went to the doctors as my hands weren't improving they were cracked, bits of skin peeling on Palm and fingers really sore. Dr said I had dermatitis and gave me betnovate cream to apply twice for 2 weeks then once for a week...it's now end of August and hands in a way are a bit better but new areas keep peeling.

I'm moisturising as often as I can, putting on cotton gloves when at home, always wear gloves when cleaning/washing up. If it doesn't improve in a week I'm going to try and make an appointment and hopefully get the same Dr (bit of pot luck at our Drs surgery!!)

So anyone who has any recommendations for hand creams please please let me know x

I knew a midwife who had horrendous problems with her hands and she swore by this

At the time it was a bit wacky but seems it's gone mainstream. Smile

Hope they improve soon.

This fixed mine faster and better than steroid cream and emollient from the doctor.

I keep one at home and one at work and use for hand washing and moisturising.

When my hands were a real mess, bleeding and cracked, the only thing that worked was Hemp Cream from the Body Shop. Much more effective than steroid ointments from GP.

Aveeno cream is amazing. It has stopped me having to use my steriod cream nearly every day.It also worked on my baby dd.

HexBramble · 28/08/2014 23:38

I buy the Aveeno for DD. she's a GP and the hand washing is really making her dermatitish flare up. She also uses the betnovate, but as sparingly as possible, but finds the Aveeno really helps.

I've also heard good things about the Body Sop hemp stuff.

I have had this for years have now since cleared up I was giving different creams from the docs I used to use e45 or sodocream (think that's how it is spelt) xx

thelmachicken · 29/08/2014 22:41

I second Hemp hand cream from the body shop. It's amazing stuff.

ouryve · 29/08/2014 22:42

I love flexitol hand cream when mine are cracking and splitting. I use oilatum lotion after hand washing for general moisture.

ouryve · 29/08/2014 22:43

And the body shop hemp cream made mine worse. I can't to.erate anything perfumed.

Sandthorn · 29/08/2014 23:55

I use flexitol foot cream on my lips when they're very bad... That might be worth trying. I have recently started body shop's absinth hand cream because I like the smell with the completely unexpected side effect that the psoriasis on my knuckles which has been a constant for the last 2 or 3 years has all but vanished. Might be worth trying out one of the body shop ones if other people rate them too.

Fucibet steroid antibiotic cream works like magic on mine. Nothing else does- and bentnovate did sod all

Another vote for Body Shop Hemp :)
