Should I use mouthwash?

I used it for ages and then one dentist told me it was better to brush my teeth and then just spit, not to rinse with anything. Is this right? (Clearly MN are more knowledgeable than my dentist Wink)

According to my dentist, mouthwash makes an excellent toilet cleaner!

Think it depends which one you use

A bloody expensive toilet cleaner!

Dentist here, I never use mouthwash. Fluoride content much lower than in toothpaste, so if you mouthwash after brushing you are washing all the good stuff away. Save your money Wink

Good to know!

Interestingly, the last time I went to the dentist he told me to spit out my toothpaste and not rinse out my mouth. Is this a new thing?

I'm a dentist. I advise spit don't rinse toothpaste. You don't need mouthwash
