Could possibly be urticaria (think thats how it is spelt) ds had it a couple of weeks ago, normally caused by a virus or allergic reaction. Take him to a doctor just in case it is something more serious.

charmkin · 20/09/2006 18:43

no it looks more like chicken pox but she has had that. Can you get it twice?

Could be a virus. They can cause rashes.

look at fifths disease - last year peadiatrician initially wrongly diagnosed our ds as have chicken pox when he has this. of also are they like a rash of tiny chicken pox and ONLY on one side of the body? co ds had this too and its shingles - but he has to have had chicken pox

MrsApronstrings · 20/09/2006 18:49

but you can get chicken pox twice ( or so I was told at ds's initial incorrect diagnosis) especially if they first time they get it they are very young apparently

Alibaldi · 20/09/2006 18:53

Shingles?

starshaker · 20/09/2006 18:57

i have had chicken pox 5 times now. pretty much when i come into contact with it. i first got it a 6 weeks and the doc just said cos of that my body cant fight it even now

MrsApronstrings · 20/09/2006 19:01

my ds had chicken pox at 9 months. This summer he developed a rash on one side of his body ( his hip) apparently also the classic place. to start with I thought his pants were too tight, over a couple of days it blistered like a collection of tiny chicken pox - he was due a doctors visit for preschool vaccines so I asked her. they were starting to scab. She wouldn't give him his jabs and said he had very classic shingles. I had never heard of it in a child...but she also said if it flared up again he should go straight away for an anti viral. This was a different person to the one who had previously misdiagnosed 5ths .

sorry..Alibaldi I read it that you were saying..what you think he had shingles? not could it be shingles? sorry for detailed explanation of ds - I feel a right lemon
