Am I going to get a migraine then??

I don't get migraines (until now??) but I experienced a "visual disturbance" during my drive into work this morning. Started as a snall burry slightly flashy blob near to the focus of my vision, seemed to be in right eye, but when I closed that eye and looked through the left it was still there.
During the hours drive it slowly changed into a sort of crescent shape and 'drifted' towards the periphary of my vision while expanding...

Does that make any sense at all!!?? Was that an 'aura' an ddoes it mean I'm going to have a crippling headache later?

i get migraines that start like that, the trick is to take 2 paracetamol AS SOON as the visual stuff starts, then sometimes if i am lucky i can bypass the headache.

migraleve are fantastic too.

once my headache sets in, nothing helps except 40 winks xxxxxxx

Yes, sounds pretty typical to me. Would recommend a basic over the counter migraine medication unless you can get to GP today. Best not to drive if you can avoid it. If you haven't eaten recently, try having a snack - a drop in blood sugar can be a cause.

Make sure you do get a check up at doc, even if not today. New migraines should always be checked out.

I don't have headaches with my migraines by the way, instead I go from the auras to vomiting.

Oh joy!
So now I just have to sit here and wait...
Have taken one iboprufen and and sucking on a toffee - as close as I can get to 2 paracetamol/migraleve and food!! (had a rummage through desk drawer...!)

Can't avoid driving, stuck in office in middle of coutry...have to drive to get home (hours drive away) or to a shop to get some painkillers.
I'll try to get appt with GP for tommorrow...ho hum!

I only get the aura bit (usually, I occasionally get the headache too) so not necessarily...

JessaJam, I get visual migraine once in a while. Peripheral vision becomes like a kaleidoscope/prism for about 20. Never had a headache with any of these episodes. Worth getting your vision checked by optician too.
