daughter's knee "clicking" - is this nothing?

Unfortunately my daughter (8) fell up the stairs at a shopping centre yesterday and landed on her knee. Apart from the initial shock and tears she said she was fine and we went on with our day including running in park etc. This morning her knee "very slightly " hurts but it is clicking when she bends it up. She can make it make a click sound constantly. Any idea what she may have done? Is it serious? She is due to be at dance camp all this week and I don't want her doing anything that will do permanent damage but at the same time she does not want to go see a doctor that says she can only rest for next week(s). Thanks very much.

I'd take her to the GP. I have had problems with my legs since a fall when i was 8. Turned out i have a slight abnormality in my bone development and it hadn't caused a problem until I had a fall.

Best safe than sorry.

Not sure if this is useful. I have arthritis and my knees click, it is the tendon behind the kneecap that catches due to inflammation. If it is the same then if you put your fingers on the kneecap as she flexes it you will feel it.

Suggest the Dr though for advice about the camp and protecting joints.
