Swollen right leg AF related?

Runwayqueen · 16/08/2014 23:28

Evening all

Just after some advice

My right leg is swollen from the hip down. I've got a significant amount of pain from my hip down, the leg is also warmer than the other. Other leg is achy but compared to the other is insignificant. I also have a headache that will not shift despite drinking. I've taken the obvious pain relief to no avail.

I'm on the last two days of my pill pack (Yasmin) so af due soon. Is it likely that it's just body gearing up for af? I don't normally suffer like this?

Any tips for easing it?

Thank you in advance Smile

I would call 111 and ask their advice. I don't think you should leave it.

Yes do call 111 or possibly (and I don't say this lightly) go to the ED.
You're potentially describing a DVT.... Don't panic, just get seen.

Thank you both for replying. I'm at work till at least 4ish. I've got a gap in my schedule coming up in an hour so I'll call 111 then. My feet are up on the desk, hoping it will help

I've rung 111, and got a call back from the dr quite quickly. They are not particularly worried, but have asked to see me at some point during Sunday. I'm finishing shift at 4, so I'm going to head home get freshened up, have an hour or twos kip (or at least attempt it) and head to my local hospital when they open at 8.

Glad you've spoken to someone but I would agree with above and advise you to go straight to A&E

I'm thinking the same now, it's probably just tiredness as my shift carries on but I feel crap now. Dp has asked me to ring him when I finish shift. I would like to leave now but I truly can't because of the uproar it would cause at work

I went home to sleep as felt rubbish, but I'm at the hospital now having spoken to the dr when I woke up

Back home. They weren't worried because there was only 1 1/2cm difference in my legs by time I was seen. Swelling has subsided but pain was/is still high, just advised to take my regular pain relief as I have been doing. They just suggested if the pain in my hip and leg continues to speak to my own gp about a hip X-ray.

Thank you all for replying
