Omega 3's - ds doesn't like strawberry syrup

I know there are other threads on this, but feel like I'm drowning in all the info on them! I am currently giving ds (5) Boots own strawberry flavour Omega 3 stuff, but he really hates it. The deal is that he finishes the bottle then I find s'thing else. What is the best for a child of this age?

I have to recommend Eye Q Not cheap, but our 3 love it & it's working especially on DS1.Has to be the vanilla one though, they weren't overly keen on the citrus one (don't blame them when I tasted a little of it)

Theres one called eskimo, tutti frutti flavour. Again not cheap 9.95 a bottle, but my ds doesnt like it so i just squeeze normal fish oils in her milk from a capsual

we use granovita special omega brand oil has 3 6 and 9 in it, you can mix it with food (best cold though) My DS aged 10 takes it "neat" its pretty bland stuff, sure it tastes better than calpol lets say!

Ds loves vanilla EyeQ oils. He always asks for more.

TW - there was a great thread on here about teaching kids to take the capsules by cutting up jelly bears into quarters, then halves for them to practice. It really works ... took my two (4 and 6) about 5 mins to get the hang of it. They now take massive (1000 mg - one a day) capsules with no problem at all. And can take paracetamol in tablet form now when necessary too.

HTH

The tip was from maryz. Thank you again maryz - I still can't believe how well it worked.

I have vivid memories of trauma aged 6 when I had antibiotics in tablet form, and couldn't take the tablets ... having them squashed up with marmalade on toast ... YUCK!

The jelly bears trick really works - try it everybody

I have been giving my 3 year old the eye Q (vanilla) for almost 11 weeks. Despite his dislike of the liquid which he describes as disgusting, he continues to endure it without too much persuasion from me. I think it's due to the offer of a strawberry vitamin chew after the liquid!!

Won't he eat food that's rich in Omega 3s? Such as oily fish? The Food Standards Agency website gives details: here

we use haliborange dha concentration with vitamins, it's a sickly orange-flavoured syrup - apparently tastes yummy.

Mine take mini morEPA capsules from healthyandessential.com. my kids are 6 and 9 so will take the capsules but you can squeeze the oil out onto a teaspoon. They are vaguely strawberry flavoured but not sickly.
