Ear problems - Labrynthitis -Vestibular Neuritis

Hi,

I was diagnosed with the above in November 2012. It has not gone away. I have been to the hospital to "retrain" my brain in hope that the dizziness will go. This has not worked.

The worst part is the "blocked ear" sensation. I can never fully "un-pop" it ie: if I blow my nose. It is getting rather ridiculous after 15+ months.

Does anyone have any experience of this problem? I have a feeling I have been misdiagnosed :/

Thanks x

Maybe look up Meniere's disease. Causes loss of hearing as well as the full ear sensation, tinnitus, vertigo etc. AFAIK other conditions have to be ruled out first.

Have you seen an ENT consultant?

I had labrynthitis a few years ago and GP gave me some antibiotics which cleared it up. My mum also had vertigo for about 4 months, but seemed to go of its own accord. Hope you feel better soon - the dizziness is awful x

Hi op , I was diagnosed with labyrinthitis over 18 months ago , I was told by the specialist it only lasts 6 months !!
I'm not as bad as I was at one point ( in bed couldn't move for vomiting) but I know when it's coming back as when I turn my head it feels really odd and I can't catch my breath ... It's an odd sensation !!
I suffer from migraines so I wonder if related ?? X

I was told that you can get vestibular migraine Tipsy - in fact it was a probable diagnosis for me.Well, either that or bppv ( I think thats what its called - benign posteral something vertigo)

I was lucky as vestibular rehabilitation did work for me.

Could you ask for it to be repeated op? I was told it may not work first time (though thank Goddess it did) and I was free to re visit if needed.
