Ear really hurts - help!

Woke up this morning feeling like I slept on a hard floor with a marble in my ear. It feels extremely tender and bruised. It also hurts when I open my mouth (but the pain isn't in my mouth, it's definitely the opening of my ear.)
It's not red (DH looked), I have not hit it, and I am sure I didn't really sleep with a marble in it!
What on earth have I done, and, more pressingly, what can I do?

No help unfortunately but have exactly the same pain you have described. I'm off to the doctor in the morning as I have had it for a while but it has worsened and I can't stand it any more. Hope yore feeling better soon.

I've had that all day today too :-(

Gross alert - it's apparently a boil! Very common apparently and notoriously painful as there's no elasticity to the skin in the ear canal. Now on antibiotics and told to call tomorrow am if no improvement and they will, shudder, 'fix it.'

Same! Mine has also nand caused an actual ear infection, double gross! On anti bs.. yuk
