Hi ,
Does anyone have any idea what they could be. They don't look like bites really as they are not all round. One is sort of shaped like an 8 and the size of a 20pish and the other ones are little spots. They are diff sizes. They itch a bit. Noticed first one on sat then the others followed. Thanks for helping.

Impetigo or ringworm?

princessmel · 18/09/2006 09:37

Hi, Thamks. I don't know if its impetigo as my neighbour (whos seen that a lot) looked at it and didn't suggest that. Its not scabby. Don't they look like chicken pox?

Is ringworm actaully ring shaped? This is a filled in 8 iyswim!! I don't have any experience of either!

Do you have any pets? Sounds like the bites I got from my horrible cat when she had fleas!

princessmel · 18/09/2006 09:41

No, no pets and I haven't touched an animal for ages and ages. OMG I hope its not fleas from my house! Can that happen? My house is so not that dirty! Just a bit toy messy.

do they look like nettle rash? if so, it may be an allergy to something!

YeahBut · 18/09/2006 09:53

Shingles? Try netdoctor as they have pics you can refer to.

anniediv · 18/09/2006 09:56

Impetigo here...impetigo and ringworm here ringworm

KateF · 18/09/2006 09:57

Don't panic-if no cat unlikely to be fleas!!!

princessmel · 18/09/2006 10:01

Thanks for links. Both of those mention the rash should be scaly or scabby but this is smooth and slightly raised.

I saw on netdoctor that it could be some sort of infection that starts with a 'heralds patch' whatever that is. I've booked a docs appointment for later. Don't want to leave it incase it spreads all over me, yuk, or in case the kids get it.

Could it be shingles? This can often appear on the torso in adults.Does it hurt??

HenniPenni · 18/09/2006 15:10

sounds like it may be pittyriasis rosaeo (sp) my dd had this at the beginning ofg the year, it starts with a herald patch or two, gradually getting more and more patches and eventually disappears on it's own, it's not contagous (sp)

princessmel · 18/09/2006 17:56

Hi, Thanks for all your replies.

Went to docs and she said it looks like an allergic reaction to an insect bite, possibly spiders!!!!Yuk!
I was filling my compost/wheelie bin with garden bits on fri so it could have happened then I suppose. I really hope it wasn't a spider and just a midge or something! She told me to use anti-histamine for a few days to see if it goes.

I 'll let you know if it doesn't.

Oh yeah, while were on the subject of health my dd(13 months) had an appointment too and has been referred to the hosp for an umbillical hernia. I thought it might be that. Her tummy button has become even more outy than usual in the last few weeks and it made me wonder if it was a hernia. Does anyone know what they would do if it is def one??
