Migraines and BF

I've suffered with migraines since I was about eight years old, but they are relatively infrequent - I get maybe five or six a year. I get the classic aura, visual disturbances, numbness in my mouth and hand on one side, and about 50% of the time, a killer headache that lasts for 24 hours or so (rest of the time, no headache at all).

Since DD arrived, in early July, I have been having migraine attack after attack - four or five per week. I am BF DD, and wonder if this might have anything to do with it. I did BF DS about four years ago without the constant migraines, but I did suffer badly when he weaned from me (at 15 months). I have long suspected that the cause of my migraines is hormonal e.g. I've never been able to take the pill etc as it just sets them off.

Anyone else had any experience with this? And did it calm down after a bit? I know my hormones are still all over the place, but hope there is some end in sight! Having consulted Dr Google, most migraine medications would require me to pump and dump for 24 hours, and I am a reluctant pumper...

I take imigran for migraines, when I was bf I had a doozy of one and I rang bf advisor at hospital and they said I would only have to dump 1 feed due to the half life of the drug which isn't so bad. Had it with both kids in first 6-8 weeks which is hormonal turmoil really after childbirth, definitely cause of migraines.

Thanks, Jellylove. The one feed dump sounds much more do-able. Will investigate...
