Is breast cancer also genetic on the fathers side?

Apologies in advance if the answer is obvious but I've never given it much thought till now.
After finding a lump in my breast the doctor asked me if I have family history of breast cancer. I answered 'no' based on my mothers side of the family (which have women galore) without thinking of my fathers side because I simply don't know them & haven't spoken to my father in 17 years.
I've been referred, so either way I'll find out what it is.. Sad just have lots of niggling questions in my head along with sheer terror.

Yes men and women can carry the BRCA genes and pass it on. But don't worry, sounds like you will get sorted.

As above, as not only can many carry the gene but men do actually get breast cancer!

good luck with everything!
