Adult braces

Just wondering if anyone has had braces as an adult? And what your experience was?

I have overcrowding and so teeth overlapping, wonky etc. during check up
Today dentist recommended the 6 month smile, which is a invisable(ish) brace which I would wear for 6-9mths and then perhaps a retainer. Costs about £2800.

Any experiences would be gratefully received xx

Watching with interest, having a similar problem. Mine aren't awful, butts enough to annoy me.

I know lots of people who have them and if you've found a practitioner that will do it for that price you've found a bargain -in London it starts at about 3200 - 3800. I am about to get the invisalign and was told it would be 12 - 18 months and I only have slight movement out of line on top and too spread bottom teeth. If you can, avoid the suggestion to shave a bit of tooth to aid alignment. I was told the retainer was pretty much a long term thing.

Mine are really, really overcrowded and out of line. I wonder if the dentist wasn't being realistic about the time and results? The price is £2600 cash or £2800 in credit.

I had invisalign - worked really well.

My mum had them at 75 so you are never too old.

I have looked into it and have been told by 2 good dentists that Invisalign is not the best- teeth tend to move back they say.

I would need 2 extractions and a fixed brace for 18 months. Have decided not to mainly because I don't want extractions.

Oh forgot to add that I was told mine were too crowded for Invisalign- hence need for extractions and fixed brace.

You need so many mms between each tooth to get the space to move the teeth and my new dentist said there wasn't enough space for the necessary movement without taking 2 teeth out.
