Had the op Monday afternoon. Was v woozy so they kept me overnight. Wasn't given any feedback on how the op actually went, so assumed it was all ok. Excruciating pain in the evening - had me mooing like a cow, and I pinned it down to trapped air in the shoulders and my tummy muscles going into spasm - which is a thing I get when I don't take my meds, which I hadn't in the run up to the op. They let me go the next morning, but every time I move to go to the loo, I feel sick. I feel slightly better once I've weed, but even with regular doses of tramadol and cocodamol, things aren't improving pain wise. I have orange or brown wee, which I thought might be a urine infection? GP's sent off a sample, but said to go back if it wasn't better by Monday.
Is this normal?

Do you mean the pain is similar to pre op? If so you could still have stones blocking the bile duct which is what happened to me. The orange brown wee is a clue, I had the same.

If it doesn't improve very soon, then back to the doctor.

Thanks, that's what I thought - but the doc said the orange wee was because I wasn't drinking enough. I tried drinking more, and was sick! I had tried to eat some melon, though, so that might have caused it. I've stopped taking the tramadol, as two friends said that could be causing the sickness. I guess I'll just wait until Monday now!

if the brown wee continues then you MUST see a dr before monday! yes it could be down to dehydration but it could also be a sign of jaundice/blocked bile duct. That is very serious. I would imagine that the dr did a dipstick test on your wee for bilirubin though?

I had terrible pain post op, i was told they spilt bile into the body cavity (naice) and it would take a while to reabsorb, i was put on a morphine drip Shock i didn't want to go home Grin within a couple of days i was fine.

melon doesn't cause brown wee!

Did they check for stones in the bile duct? My surgeon checked when he did the op. If the pain continues please don't wait until Monday, see someone sooner.

I hope you feel better soon.

As soon as I'd stopped the tramadol, I started actually being sick, and then the diarrhoea started. (Sorry about the tmi). I've had a pretty horrendous time of it - a couple of lovely GP's came out to see me yesterday morning, and gave me some anti-nausea tablets. One of them (the trainee) was concerned that I had a temp of 37.7 and a heart rate of 120, but the other one thought that was more to do with my CFS and that I was just recovering slowly. Horrendous night last night with lots of loo-sitting, and pain, but eventually took some painkillers and it all settled down enough to get some sleep.
Feeling slightly better this morning - hoping to get a cup of tea and a piece of toast down me - I haven't eaten really since last Sunday!

Th anks guys for your posts - eventually I ended up being taken in by the paramedics and it turned out that I had passed a stone or a few stones, and an infection, a seroma and a hematoma! (A pocket of fluid and a pocket of blood). After a not-very-funny five days on IV antibiotics and painkillers, morphine, and having an ultrasound, a chest x-ray and an ERCP (as well as about 10 blood tests and a couple of wee tests), they finally said I was good to go home! :) Never known so much pain, but really glad to be home now! So thanks people! :)
