Help! I have had on off watery explosive bowels for the last 10 days. Went to GP after a week, she gave me buscopan. Started it on Sat, she also gave me antibiotics as there were leukocytes & protein++ in my urine sample?? I have no symptoms of a uti at all so I'm confused

She said stomach problems likely to be ibs and brought on by stress. Thought the buscopan was working as have been fine since Sat. I've actually just been woken by the most awful cramping, "trickly" feelings in my gut and wind, and yes - it's back with a vengeance. Talk to me about IBS - is this what it's like all the time?! I am not sure I can deal with it... Worried about going to work but no choice today, colleague is off for a hospital appt so no cover!

As an IBS sufferer your symptoms sound all too familiar, and antibiotics are unlikely to have helped...

I'm a firm believer in finding the root of a problem rather than treating the symptoms so if Buscopan isn't helping, try something radical.
For me, giving up gluten and lactose helped enormously but you may need to keep a food diary to help work out your triggers.

The FODMAP diet tends to make life much less painful these days.

Keep a food and mood diary. Antibiotics could make it worse

I cut out bread, sugar yeast and preservatives and flavourings.

Look up kathryn marsdens website and she has a book called good gut healing, it explains a lot.
