How long does a Minerva IUD last?

I got mine fitted in December 2009. I was told that is lasts for 5 years. I am now getting a bit of period pain but no bleeding. I am also getting paranoid because I really dont want any more children.

Do these things really last 5 years, or should I go back to my GP and ask them to replace it?

Do you mean Mirena ? They are licensed for 5 years due to hormone content although in practice can give protection longer as an iud.
