Please can someone help me, sorry if tmi, I am on antibiotics for a nasty bug in my stomach. I'm halfway through a 2 week course. I'm on clarithromycin 250mg and metronidazole 400mg twice a day. I have the most horrendous thrush orally and vaginaly. Yesterday I used a canasten pessary and iv had awful tummy cramps all day. Iv just had a bath and 24 hours later the tablet is still there unresolved :( my bits are so sore and now I have it a'll over my tongue. My throat is sore, I can't get rid of this vile taste in my mouth, or cwench my thurst. Everything is so dry. What can I do

I had thrush hell through my entire pregnancy. I can second no baths but also cut your sugar intake whilst you've got it. There's some sort of reaction that makes it worse Shock

The oral tablet I meant, it's called Fluconazole and it's a one off treatment.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 03/08/2014 18:29

Oh and maybe buy some probiotic drinks whilst your on antibiotics. You're not drinking on metronidazole at all are you? As it makes you extremely sick if you do. I wouldn't take ibuprofen if you've been vomiting blood as it can be an irritant.

I've started taking probiotic tablet, kids were pinching the yogurts.

Fingers crossed for you, OP. It sounds bloody miserable.

PinkSparklyElephant · 04/08/2014 08:42

Fingers crossed you're feeling better soon. When I've had bad thrush over the counter tablets and pessaries don't work and I've had a course of Diflucan from the doctor which has sorted everything out. I don't bother buying the one from the chemist now, I just get it on prescription.

DogandBeardedDragon · 04/08/2014 09:24

No appointments before I start work at 11 so going to just have to put up with it until I'm off tomorrow. :( will walk down first thing and hopefully be seen straight away tomorrow as battling the phone Que is a nightmare.

diflucan!!! one tablet and it will sort it! you can buy it over the counter.

BalloonSlayer · 04/08/2014 09:30

Have you still got the raging thirst?

Because raging thirst + thrush can suggest diabetes.

FannyFifer · 04/08/2014 10:49

Go to chemist and buy Diflucan, don't wait till tomorrow.

gymboywalton · 04/08/2014 11:02

i agree-get it going!

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 04/08/2014 12:28

Go to the pharmacist for the oral tablet you don't have to see the GP!
