I am a regular, I've NC for this.
Please don't read on if you are of a queasy nature.

There is pus all around my clitoris, what could it be?
It's been there since Wednesday, it is sore too.
Putting Germoline on it helps to stop it being so sore.

I can't see any evidence of spots or boils.

I've looked on the internet and there is very little info about possible causes.

Help!

You need to get checked as must be an infection. You would need antibiotic cream & possibly oral antibiotics.
I don't want to alarm you but could it be herpes? Not sure if that would give those symptoms as I think it would be sore weeping ulcers. Maybe go to a GUM clinic as you will probably get an appt quicker than your Drs.

hellymelly · 02/08/2014 11:38

Get seen asap, as you don't want infection to spread. Sounds as though whatever it is it may well need antibiotics.

Thanks for your replies.

Herpes seems unlikely, I don't think that DP has slept with anyone else, I know I haven't and I don't have any blisters or pustules.
I will ask about it when I see the GP.

The nearest GUM clinic is open on Monday but I have a GPs appointment booked for Tuesday anyway.

Do you think salt water would help?

Maybe, or boiled water with a drop of lavender oil in is very antiseptic. Sounds peculiar though, could it be a nasty discharge from your vagina? I would trot (gingerly Grin ) to A+E if it were me, but I can understand you might want to see your gP instead. Out of hours GP?

namechangethisisgross · 02/08/2014 16:15

I'm tempted to go to A&E but we're a good 45 mins from the nearest one and 35 mins from the out of hours GP.

I don't seem to have any vaginal discharge, which is one of the reasons it all seems so strange.

Are you sure you haven't got thrush?

noddyholder · 02/08/2014 16:28

Have a hot bath with tea tree oil?

IMurderedStampyLongnose · 02/08/2014 16:31

Ooh,if you squeeze the area around it does more come out?!

namechangethisisgross · 02/08/2014 17:15

mine I've had thrush before and it wasn't like this, although I think symptoms can sometimes differ?

IMurdered ooooh yes. If you squeeze the affected area more does indeed come out.

If it helps the pus is not smelly but it is cream in colour and really thick.

I wouldnt go to the ED as this is not an emergency.
Have some baths with salt or some tea tree oil, wear loose fitting underwear. Reassess in 24hrs. Go to GP on Monday if not better.

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream · 02/08/2014 18:06

Sounds like a discharging cyst or abscess- poor you. I would gently squeeze as much out as poss, followed by fairly hot salt water baths, and lots of Savlon. Then GP on Monday or OOH GP tomorrow if any worse or if you start to feel ill with it. Good luck!

Hmm

Sorry, pressed post too soon.

Saw a Dr today, it's an infection, also abdominal so I will have a scan.
I've been prescribed Ofloxacin & Metronidazole, I have to go back to the GP next week when I've finished the course.

Happily it isn't herpes.
Thank you for your advice Smile

Sounds nasty, poor you. I am glad you got seen, I found myself worrying about it at odd moments yesterday! Will they scan you soon?

namechangethisisgross · 04/08/2014 17:22

Yes, I should be scanned before Friday, the hospital will call me directly with a day/time.
I have no idea how this happened but I feel better for having seen someone. I cried when I told the Dr about it, I'm usually tough but I felt so embarrassed.
I really am grateful for the push you all gave me to go to the GP.

Glad it's getting sorted Smile

Kittykat7 · 05/08/2014 05:13

Glad you got seen at the Drs. Hope the meds work soon. You must avoid alcohol with Metronidzadole & they can make you feel quite rough. Hope you feel better soon.
