PMDD?

I suffer with PMDD. I find that after about day 1 of starting my period I am on a high for about a week and a half and then the anxiety starts again up until my period starts. Recently it got so bad and I thought maybe it was just me so I went to my GP and have been put on anti-depressants, Setraline. I have been on them for about 2 months now and do feel better until about 2 weeks before my period where the anxiety kicks in again. I think it must be hormonal as it still the anxiety is still bad even with the anti-depressants.

The anti-depressants have definitely helped I don’t get as bad tempered or fly off the handle as much as I used to, but the anxiety is still awful to deal with. I went back to my GP last week and he said I should try the progesterone only pill. I just wondered what anyone else’s experience of trying that or anti-depressants for PMDD and if so are you on them long term?
