I dont know if it is chicken pox, but he dont seem to bothered about the spots. There is spots behind one ear, back of his neck, and on his belly and chest. They are only pink lumps, and he has about 38 spots. (just counted and found 1 under each armpit as well!) Does this sound like anything to worry about to anyone? I dont want to go to doctors if it aint anything, but he did not have any this morning before going to nursery!

TIA

sounds like chicken pox....check again in an hour or so to see if there are anymore. All our 3 went from no spots when getting dressed to covered by the end of breakfast....

If you notice more spots appearing over a short space of time, I would suspect chicken pox. Have you done the tumbler test to rule out other things??

With any rash, if it were me, I would take the lo straight up to the drs at the earliest opportunity. That way you can get a diagnosis and also a way to treat it.

Good luck, hope your lo's ok

Behind ear and on neck sound typical of chickenpox. ds was the same - fine in the morning , spotty by lunchtime.

What did he have to eat and drink at nursery? I brought my 3 yearold home one afternoon from nursery and within minutes he looked like an illustration from a contagious disease text book. He had been given a carton of supposedly "pure" orange juice (this was 15 years ago) and when i looked at the small print, it was full of orange colouring. He was allergic to it, and stayed allergic to anything orange for years afterwards.

He said he had cheese and tomatoes today, and milk to drink. I thought i saw a spot on his neck this mornong, but thought nothing of it.

Sounds like it might be chicken pox then.

Not sure if i should take him doctors or not, or see how he is in the morning! I hate going to the doctors anyway, brings back bad memories

if he is weel in himself I would wait and see how they develop

mummy23 · 14/09/2006 16:47

nothing else seems wrong with him
(apart from he survives the day after waking up so bloody early)

I have taken him before with suspected cp, and it turned out to be a food allergy! i was quite embarassed

Any more spots?
What did G say, does he think its CP?

mummy23 · 15/09/2006 10:20

Few more spots today, but they seem to be bigger than yesterday, and the lumps are very hard!
Got an appointment to see doctor today, hopefully they can confirm what it actually is!
