I have fibro and a back injury plus have had GBS in the past. I have been taking amitriptyline, tramadol, paracetamol and naproxen but recently they haven't been touching the pain. I told the doctor and she prescribed me matrifen (Fentanyl) patches that last for 72hrs. I'm on my second one now and it seems to be working. I've cut down all my other meds to half my normal dose so if necessary I can just take some more of them.
I'm assuming that's ok? The doctor didn't tell me to stop taking them and this was prescribed as well as all my other things.

It would be normal to have the fentanyl instead of regular tramadol and just use the tramadol as and when.

Amitriptylline works differently to the fentanyl so you may still need the full dose.
