Beta Blockers/Propanalol - side effects?

I've been prescribed these for urticaria (hives) as anti-histamines haven't worked. If you've used propanalol or similar did you have any side effects? I feel a bit light headed and am sleeping badly. Also feel hungrier than usual.

If you took these for urticaria, did they work? So far all I've had are the side effects but its only day 2...thanks.

i was given propanalol to slow my heart rate.
i had to come off then after a week ,with dizziness ,feeling faint and nightmares.

I'm on my second month for migraines.

Took a few weeks for the spaced out feeling and trouble sleeping to go.

Thanks both - am really not liking them, if I wasn't riddled with hives I'd stop taking them. What dose did you take if you don't mind me asking? Have been prescribed 40mg x 3 times a day but no idea if that's low or high...

I've been on them for months.. initially the side effects were tough along with a really tight chest. All of that passed though as I got used to them and now don't get any at all unless I take one after 6pm and I struggle to sleep.

They're the dogs bollocks and worth seeing it through the first couple of weeks.

Yup had the tight chest and nightmares too. Relieved they're common side effects, the chest thing was a bit worrying.
Will take them during the day though might reduce to two a day during week as am struggling at work.

My urticaria is seasonal so I suspect just as I get used to the side effects I won't need to take them!

The tight chest was a pain In the arse, I ended up puffing on the daughters inhaler. Really glad when it passed. But the benefits outweighed all of that.

I take one about 7am and another at 12pm.. If I really need the third I take it about 5pm.

I took them a couple of years ago for anxiety. Passed out at work-mega embarrassing lol so stopped taking them.
