Recovery from minor operation - how long?

I know this is probably a how long is a piece of string question. I'm due to have an op next week as a day case under general anaesthetic. I'm a SAHM with 3 small children (aged 3-8) and have got childcare covered for 6 days (so, op is on Wednesday, covered until the following Tuesday).
Is this going to be long enough? I'm wondering if I should try and send the kids to a play scheme for another day (or two). The surgeon has warned me to keep the children at a distance until I'm recovered (surgery is on my nose) as bouncy children and waving arms generally result in the patient being readmitted with an open wound!

Obviously it depends on how you react to the anaesthetic, but I've had a fair few and I reckon six days is plenty to recover from the anaesthetic. I feel quite dopey on the day, and then usually sleep longer that night, and perhaps a bit sleepy the next day too, but then back to normal.

I don't know about the healing though - has the surgeon said how long it will take? It also depends how likely the children are to obey the instructions not to touch your nose or behave wildly near you! :)

All the best for your surgery Flowers
