First period after copper coil fitting...day 9 and counting...

I'm used to 4ish day periods. I knew it would make my periods longer, but getting bored now.

Not really made them heavier, per se but normally I have a heavy couple of days followed by spotting. This has just been a constant level of mid flow slightly watery bleeding. No sign of letting up.

is this just because it is the first month or is this it forever.....

I have had it for about 6 months...generally a LOT heavier and longer. DH has had the snip, and as soon as he has the all clear - final sample going in on Wednesday! It is coming out.

I've had mine over a year now and they've settled and are actually shorter and no where near as painful before I had my son so you never know, hang in there at least 6 months for it to settle. I don't take painkillers for then anymore and they aren't that heavy.

First few are pretty bad. Do you take ibuprofen as it slows the flow down

Mine were really heavy for about six months then settled down. I still have a couple of heavy days but not like it was when I first had the coil in. Had it four years now and am very pleased with it - it has virtually got rid of my period pain and my pmt is much improved too.

I've had mine over a year now and just waiting for an appointment to get it out. Periods started out just longer than usual and then got longer and longer and heavier and heavier. To the point where I was bleeding 21 days at a time with a break of 7-10 days before it started again. I'm having to take the pill to control the bleeding which totally defeats the purpose of having the copper coil in the first place Hmm. I was so hopeful that it would be the perfect contraceptive solution for me but now I can wait to be rid of it.
