Does anyone know if you can have an inflamed pancreas if it appears normal on an MRI scan?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can. Though its unusual.

My BIL had it and was hospitalised. This was in 2012. He is well now. His was one of a small percentage of cases with no known cause that just resolved. It's not very common to present like this though. He was in France. His tests might have been different. But he definitely had an MRI that disclosed nothing. Bloods were elevated though.

agree with ladymacbeth - yes you can have pancreatitis and nothing to show on the mri scan. gall bladder issues are the most common cause of pancreatitis.
