Chest clinic referral.

Dp was working night shift last night and came home early suffering from bad chest pains. He got an appointment at the doctor's today and has been referred to the chest clinic at the local hospital. Can anyone with experience of a chest clinic explain what will happen tomorrow? Any advice would be welcome. TIA.

Well, chest pain is normally assessed as to whether it's coming from the heart, lungs, or just muscular, so they could do heart tests, or tests to check for things like pleurisy or pneumonia or other chest and lung issues. He'll probably have a chest X-ray at least. Good luck!

Thank you for the reply. He's at work now and I was feeling at bit anxious, so I appreciate you letting me know what to expect.

It sounds like he may have been referred to a rapid access chest pain clinic. If so he will see a doctor or nurse specialist, have an ECG and a blood test to try and help determine the cause of his pain.

Cheers Caravan. He's not bothering his shirt about it, but I seem to be worrying enough for both of us!
