Have I mucked this up?

Just after some advice really. I was starting back on the contraceptive pill (Yasmin) this month after having the mirena removed earlier in the year.

I was told to take it the first day of my period. On Sunday evening I had light spotting (this was pretty much when I was due on) so I took the pill about 10pm, but since then nothing...no period arrived.

No chance I'm pregnant, so could it be the pill has stopped my period arriving? Have I mucked it up? Assuming I should just keep going and hope I have a bleed in the break if nothing arrives?

My understanding is that it doesn't actually matter when in your cycle you begin the pill. What really matters is that you use condoms or other contraception for the first 7 days until it's had a chance to kick in properly.

I think in theory if you start at the "right" time in your cycle then it would become effective immediately, no need for the condoms, but personally I never wanted to rely on that and always followed the 7 days of condoms rule!

Yes I think it's possible the pill has stopped your period arriving. Keep going and you'll probably have a bleed at break time. You may well have some spotting before then too.

Thanks for replying. Yeah that's pretty much what I thought, then had a mild panic! Grin

I'll just keep on going!
