Hi chockbic. When is your next GP appointment? I think you need to insist (as in - I'm not leaving this surgery till you arrange this) on going for a CT scan. This pain isn't going away, and you need to find the cause as soon as possible.

chockbic · 29/07/2014 12:30

The GP has talked about me seeing a gastroenterologist. Will he/she be able to do a CT scan?

I've to go back tomorrow and think I'll ask for some strong painkillers.

Thanks x

I have very similar to what you describe although my liver function has always been fine. Recently had an endoscope, via a gastro dr, and found inflammation in my stomach. I have crohns so I guess it's a strong possibility it's spread but normal gastritis would present the same. It's definitely worth seeing the specialist.

I wondered if it could be a referred pain from the acid reflux. That wouldn't affect liver function though, or would it?

Will ask doctor about this at the appointment.

No further forward with this.

GP wants me to have more blood tests.

I am in exactly the same position as you. GB scan was normal. I will see my consultant on fri to discuss. I haven't had my pain for a month. She said if i still had the pain, she would have sent me for a ct. Keep us updated.

chockbic · 07/08/2014 13:44

How were your blood tests?

My pain is constant. Some mornings I wake up holding the rib area :(

I agree with moggiet. DEMAND a referral to gastro and CT/MRI do not be fobbed off. Have you lost weight?

chockbic · 08/08/2014 02:20

I've lost half a stone the past month but that's due to not eating after an upsetting time.

GP won't refer me I have asked twice. Just more blood tests it seems.

google 'positive Murphys sign' - if your GP hasn't done this already you can actually do it yourself... there are you tube examples. You only get a positive murphys sign with gallbladder problems.... I'm not suggesting you self diagnose but it would be interesting to know that outcome.

your other symptoms do sound very like it is in that area. I was just the same with GB problems....

chockbic · 08/08/2014 13:19

OK yes I have pain there and some gurgling in that area too.

There's pain when I press under the rib and when I breathe out.
