Anyone had weight loss surgery?

Just that, really.

I'm interested in hearing people's experiences. I suppose I have the normal questions - did it work? How was recovery? How does it feel after? How much weight did you lose and over how long? Do you still enjoy your food and dinners out? Does it make you cut down on alcohol?! Is getting pregnant after ok?

Thanks.

just bumping for you really as I haven't had surgery but my aunt has. It transformed her life. She had the bypass and I think recovery was tough - one of her worst side effects was that she lost of a lot of hair (possibly due to the physical trauma) though she was prone to that anyway. Ten years on it's mainly back and her weight loss has been sustained. She lives a very normal life now and it's been a great blessing for her.

Another family member had a band - which didn't work so well and had to be removed because it kept slipping (nothing to do with her eating habits - just bad luck and she has lots of other health conditions to complicate things).

Close friend had gastric bypass around 3 years ago. Lost 8 stone but sadly has regained most of it Sad

A friend had a gastric sleeve and loss loads of weight, she's down to a healthy weight now after being very, very obese. She worked hard with it though and is very into fitness now, practically lives at the gym.
