Pain when ovulating

Does anyone else get this? I've had it for a couple if years - not sure if linked to pregnancies or previous endometriosis but I can feel a pain when I ovulate. It's not agony but it's a steady pain for a couple of days where I think my ovaries are. Sides vary from month to month. Weird or normal?

I get this too (in fact I have had this today and yesterday). It has been getting worse with each cycle over the past few months (am nearly 43 so was hoping things would start to slowly slow down...)

I get it for a few hours, like a mild period pain in my side, while I'm ovulating, I was ttc and take hormones to make me ovulate so I'm fairly sure of timings. As far as I know its like period pain some get it some don't. That said if you didn't use to get it I'd get checked just in case.

I get period pain when I ovulate, always have. Funny thing is I rarely get period pains when I'm due on or on my period. only another pair of ruined knickers!

NK5BM3 · 30/06/2014 20:28

I get that too. Only in the last year or so, since turning 40. I've had it today and counting the days post period I can safely say it's v much in line with what id think is my ovulation time. It's weird. I've now had 2 kids and never knew when I ovulated (or rather there was never any pain). Now I get it. Hmm

Yes I've started to get this. I get very tender right around where I expect my ovaries are and it feels like my lower half is in a vice. It also hurts to sit down when it is happening (pain shooting up my bottom!) Luckily it only last about 4 or 5 hours although I feel a bit tender for a couple of days after that. I haven't been to the doctors about it though.

MillyONaire · 30/06/2014 20:31

I get it too - and did you know that you usually ovulate from alternative sides - something to entertain you during the pain! (so if your pain is on the right this months it'll be on the left next month - and no, knowing that doesn't help!)

Chocolategirl7 · 30/06/2014 20:32

Ah so pleased I'm not alone but sorry for everyone suffering.
Sometimes I can feel a sort if cold pain - like there's cold water running down inside me too.
I'm 43 too and my periods are increasingly getting odd - 2 days of super heavy periods - nothing at all for 24 hours then 2/3 days of normal light flow! Such a pain!

Chocolate, my periods sound just like yours - two days of flooding with huge clots, then almost nothing, then two or three days of light bleeding.

And they are more irregular - anywhere between 24 and 29 day cycles whereas I used to be able to pinpoint them exactly to every 28 days.

Gah.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/06/2014 20:38

Yes, I do. It can feel like a pulled muscle and/or a red hot poker being shoved up my bum when I sit down.

It's called mittleschmerz (middle pain).

NK5BM3 · 01/07/2014 07:17

Good to hear we are not alone! My periods have increasingly got weird too. I start off with a day or 3 of very light staining (panty liner type!) and then it gushes. Sometimes for a day, others for 2 days. To the point that I had to start buying the super night mega long types. And then it goes away again...

happystory · 01/07/2014 07:23

I had this. It's even got a name, my dr told me it was called 'mittelschmerz' which means 'middle pain.'

nooka · 01/07/2014 07:31

Well I'm also 43 and have recently started to experience this, so maybe it's a pre-menopausal thing (hopeful!).

fuzzpig · 01/07/2014 07:33

Yes I get it, only the last few years though (am 27)

For various reasons (changes in cycle etc) I had an ultrasound last year and nothing unusual or worrying so it's just normal I guess. Annoying though!

PrimalLass · 01/07/2014 07:55

Yes to the ov pain and odd periods. I get two days of heavy, then nothing for another week, then a couple of days of 'dirty' looking blood. Have had an ultrasound just in case but I am fine and it is so regular anyway.

eurochick · 01/07/2014 08:00

I get it too. I have done since my teens but it has got more intense in recent years (I'm late 30s). I feel it more on one side than the other- the ovary I feel more is further forward. The other has a tendency to swim behind my womb. My insides have been intensely studied in the course of fertility treatment and nothing wrong has been found. It's just one of those things.
