Please give me some hope

My Mother has has a CT scan, bronchial endoscopy and a PET CT scan her appointment with the consultant is tomorrow, to find out the results :(
Do you think that the first two procedures were inconclusive thats why they did the PET or could it be that they found something and are using the PET to see how far its spread ?
The waiting is horrendous, shes only 58 !!

I'm really sorry to say this ,but suspect you know it already ,but PET scans are normally to detect any spread of cancerous activity .

My only experience is that I knew before I had the CT scan that they were looking for spread and I certainly knew before the PET scan .

Cancer treatment is very advanced now and even with what used to be very bad prognosis they can often manage the situation and keep things at bay .
I'm so sorry that you are going through this ,the waiting is often worse than the results .

PET scans are often used to see whether a lesion on an X-Ray is "hot" or not. My mum had a small shadow on her lung which they weren't sure if it was cancer or old TB it was a lung tumour but having got it early it was fine. She is well 3 and a half years later. So a tiny bit of hope that they did the PET scan to see if the lump was cancerous or not. Good luck. Hopefully if it's early they can treat it if it is.
