Because this is bugging me and I don't know what it is or whether it warrants a GP appointment.

I've had what feels a bit like period pain with lower backache for a few days now. Mild cramps and that heavy feeling you get in your womb.

Done a bit of Googling and come up with a few options but I'm unsure, just wanted to pick people's brains really.

So, one possibility is being pregnant. In theory that's a possibility as we had sex 10 days ago, and while we didn't do everything you need to do there's always that 1/1000 chance. However that was only about 2 days after my period finished, and am not due on till the 7th. Have just done a test I had lying around and it's negative but obviously it's only 10 days. I do have an unsettled stomach which would be par for the course for me being pg, but it's more like it would be if I was 5w pg - so could be something else or could be psychosomatic as I'm worried (not sure now would be a good time). Don't remember when I've been pg before that I felt this just a week or so after sex, don't remember being suspicious at all until I was late.

Could be ovulation pain but blimey, it would be very impressive ovulation pain!

I also feel a bit under the weather, which has had me Googling and noticed UTI's and kidney infections - but I have no pain peeing, no need to pee a lot, and no actual temperature. 'Under the weather' could just be the cold's going around. But the lower backache is in what I imagine to be the kidney area.

The last option (I did a lot of Googling Blush) is fibroids, as I do have very very heavy periods and occasional pain in my cervix during sex.

Now if I'm not pregnant than I'll obviously go to the GP but I'd need to wait what, another week or so before I could rely on a negative test?

Sorry that's a bit long and random, but if anyone has an experience of any of the above and could suggest anything during the week's wait that would be helpful!

When I have a uti I don't tend to have pain weeing as such, just feel generally odd and sometimes a bit hot and sweaty. I do get mild crampy feelings like period pain.

If I leave it, it does go to my back and I feel like I'm bruised in my lower back and sides.

If it is a uti drinking plenty will help. I wouldn't bother with the OTC stuff as that's generally most useful if you're actually in pain whilst passing urine, and as you say you aren't.

But drinking plenty, paracetamol and taking it easy won't do any harm.

I had a bit of a back ache a few years ago, - no pain weeing and it turned out to be quite a bad kidney infection - definitely go to GP and get urine checked etc.

I've also had fibroids and they did give me vey painful periods, - but weren't painful in between periods (until they got really bad) they also gave me very very heavy periods - and I think that is one of the very typical symptoms of them.

Paracetamol, fluids and a hot water bottle to put on your back until you can get to a doc. would be my entirely unqualified medical advice.
Have you got a temperature? (which would indicate an infection obv.)

KurriKurri · 28/06/2014 15:21

Oh meant to say -could you take a wee sample to a walk in and get it checked before monday? Because if it is an infection the sooner you get AB's the better.

eurochick · 28/06/2014 15:25

I was going to suggest a UTI too.

BellaCB · 28/06/2014 15:26

No temperature and sadly no walk in around here. Thanks though. I will drink gallons and see what they does! I guess I'm a bit.wary of going to the gp if I'm not in proper pain or ill until I know for certain it's not pregnancy. But it's reassuring to hear it sounds similar to something other people have had.
