What do you wear for a CT scan?

I have just got my appointment letter for a CT scan next week and it states I won't be provided with a hospital gown but doesn't develop on what I should wear instead. I know for an MRI scan you can't wear under-wiring in bras, zips etc. (I may have one at the same time so this might not actually matter anyway) but is it the same for a CT scan or should I just wear comfortable clothes e.g leggings and a t-shirt? Surely if it was no metal allowed they should state this in the letter though? So, what do I wear?

I have a cardiac pacemaker, and therefore cannot have MRI scans, but I can and do have CT scans. So metal in CT is not dangerous in the same way as it is in MRI. However, I am normally asked to wear a hospital gown. I think metal on my bra straps would interfere with the pictures because the CT scans are of my chest. They don't ask me to remove my rings because they are not scanning my hands.

I think what to wear depends on what part of your body is being scanned. If it is your trunk, I would avoid wearing bra straps or jeans. But why not just call the CT department and ask them.

I have regular CT scans. For the first few I was told to wear clothes without metal, but then they said underwire in bras didn't matter, and the one I had last week they didn't even ask if there was any metal in my clothes.

IIWY I would wear a T shirt, and leggings/ joggers without metal fasteners, just in case. Sometimes the bit round the waist tie is metal, even if the trousers don't have any obvious fastenings.

Thanks, it's on my hips/knees so I'm guessing jewellery and my bra won't affect it Smile. I would call but the hospital is notoriously difficult to contact! Hopefully I will be having an MRI at the same time anyway!
