Hemorrhoids? TMI alert...

Hi, I'm hoping for some advice please as I'm at the end of my tether Sad I'm sorry for the TMI but for 2 months now I have had an awful itchy bottom. It went away briefly after I used Germaloid cream but was soon back and now the itching is unbearable and keeping me awake most of the night. I'm starting to feel really low in mood, and can't concentrate at work through tiredness. I assume it is Hemorrhoids as I have some skin tags on my bottom and have finally been to the doctor who wasn't much help at all.
She says things look ok 'down there' but has prescribed me some Xyloproct cream anyway? I have been using it for 24 hours but seems to be making no more difference than the over the counter cream? Is this normal? I feel like pulling my hair out at the moment Sad
I'm even wondering now if something else could be causing it as it is actually the whole of my bottom area itching down there, and not just the skin tags (although they are by far the worse) I'm so sorry for the TMI information part, but any help would be appreciated right now? Thank you

Google 'pruritis ani patient UK' and read the 'doctor' article. If needed, print and take with you if still symptoms next week.

In the meantime apply thick Vaseline after the steroid your GP gave, some ice if still itchy after that

Could you have worms as that causes an itchy bottom?

I've never found piles to be itchy. Could be worms or something else.

I had this during my second pregnancy. Definitely print article off. You can get different cream from dr. I found otc creams just irritated my skin (anusol etc) and made itching worse. You need something with a steroid in
