Sore weird feeling in mouth

Hi
I have this weird fuzzy feeling in my mouth and on tongue for the last three days. What do you think it could be? Not taking any different medication. If I rub my tongue around my mouth it sort of feels cracked...
Any Idea?

Thanks

Are you dehydrated?

NigellasDealer · 25/06/2014 13:03

have you been eating a lot of processed food / ready meals?

Tea1Sugar · 25/06/2014 13:03

Oral thrush?

elizabeth27 · 25/06/2014 14:25

No no and no! Drinking lots of water, never have ready meals and think I would have white coating if it was thrush?

Burning mouth syndrome ?
I have that it's awful!
Or geographic tongue?

elizabeth27 · 25/06/2014 14:36

Can burning mouth syndrome just appear out of no where? Will have a look thanks

I had something like this and it turned out to be the beginning of a bout of geographic tongue. Very unpleasant while it lasted.

Avoiding spicy food and minty toothpaste helped. IIRC I drank a lot of tepid herbal teas - the best was possibly licorice - and bio-live yogurt.

It really messed with my sense of taste while it lasted! Took about 6-8m from start to finish.

BTW, yes, it can appear out of nowhere!

Are you by any chance peri-menopausal? A burning mouth can be one of the symptoms.

elizabeth27 · 25/06/2014 14:52

Thanks for the info. Looked at pictures of geographical tongue but my tongue hasn't got any marks on it.
I am not perimenopausal as had hormones checked for that re something else. It's just so annoying!

Thrush won't always be white, might be more red/inflamed instead and a feeling of fuzziness.

Mini05 · 25/06/2014 15:06

Bms, can just appear I've had mean for over a year!
Are you anxious ie anxiety as thins can start mouth issues off or as said peri menopausal

I've tried alsort, even been to oral consultant, he was the one who said above

The marks did not appear on my tongue for several months. I just had a slightly sore, inflamed-looking patch, which came and went, gradually getting bigger. It started looking smooth at about the same time as my sense if taste started going doolally. By the time my tounge had developed the classic geographic appearance, the worst was over and it had started to heal.
