I have been taking this medication for 5 days now. And i feel like complete crap. I feel so lost most of the time. Disoriented.. exhausted and headaches. I have no energy. I feel like im shutting down... Has anyone else had these similar symptoms while taking this medication.
I told my doctor that I had ongoing headaches and she told me to keep talking it till the end...

Me! Also exhausted and feeling constantly 'empty' and starving tummy wise. Haven't had the headache. Are you avoiding alcohol completely and staying hydrated OP?

Catswiththumbs · 11/06/2014 19:58

I took it when I had infection in my wisdom tooth.

It reacts really badly with alcohol (not that I had any!!), and I did feel pretty crap but put that down to the infection.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

Verynovicegardener · 11/06/2014 19:58

Also what r u taking it for? Could your symptoms be related to your actual illness?

sophiee05 · 11/06/2014 20:12

Thanks for the reply.
I have not taken any alcohol at all.

I am currently taking it for BV. (Bacterial Vaginosis)
All in all, I just feel really crappy since ive taken this medication.
Just wanted to know if other people experienced the same..

Thanks Catswiththumbs.. Im looking forward to Friday ( Last day of meds)

I've taken it 3 times and it made me feel dreadful each time. Did work well in treating the infections though.

weegiemum · 11/06/2014 20:15

Seriously, don't take any alcohol.

If you want your guts inside you (I was young, I didn't take it seriously!)

crazynanna · 11/06/2014 20:18

It's a not-very-nice kick-ass rough, makes-you-feel-shit antibiotic.

sorry...too many -----s

Guitargirl · 11/06/2014 20:19

I have taken it twice for tooth infections and it made me feel awful both times and for a few days afterwards. Am sure my cognition was affected, I felt very light-headed and couldn't concentrate at all.

Allalonenow · 11/06/2014 20:26

Also, don't drink alcohol at all for at least two days after you finish taking Metronidazole, as it will still be in your system and you will be very poorly when the drug and alcohol combine.

Hope you start to feel better soon.

Hooleywhipper · 11/06/2014 20:27

Hi I am taking it along with another strong antibiotic and I have been feeling totally exhausted, swollen stomache and horrible taste in my mouth. Counting the days till I finish!

Kundry · 11/06/2014 20:37

Felt crap and had a disgusting metallic taste in my mouth the whole time.

Worked brilliantly though.

Tinkerisdead · 11/06/2014 20:40

Oh me. I had it for an infected c section wound. I felt dreadful on it. Also My GP reassured me it was fine for breastfeeding...dd2 was days old and pooing blood. The hospital were all baffled as to what was wrong until we were admitted to the childrens ward and i was asked "your not taking metronidazole are you?"

sophiee05 · 12/06/2014 00:19

Thanks everyone for the comments... It makes me feel a little reassured that I am not the only one who felt like shit on this antibiotic.
I am also counting the days till I dont have to take them anymore. ( Last day is Friday) 2 more days. Also hoping I dont have to go back on them again lol.

They are very effective with certain sorts of infection, and if you can possibly tolerate then then do take them. Make me feel yuck though. You can ask for Metronidozole pessaries for vaginal use at night if the tablets are upsetting your stomach and bowels, always worth knowing.
