oh god. I have the most awful burning pain downstairs, and painkillers aren't working to take the edge off. Can't get to the docs (or leave the house - home alone with the DC) until tomorrow. Any advice? Help get me through the night please :( is there anything I can do to calm it down??

I usually have a bath/shower with some baby soap, take ibuprofen for the pain/swelling and then go for cranberry tablets but I suppose you won't have those in the house?
Whereabouts are you? I get mine in tesco can someone get you some and drop them in? Take four then another four in the morning.
You poor thing you have my utmost sympathy, its horrid Hmm

no-one to ask :( feel utterly miserable. Thanks for the advice. May have a bath to see if that helps. God it is a total nightmare when these things happen - they seem to come on so fast :(

Do you have any bicarbonate of soda? Mix it with some water and drink it. One tablespoon full in a glass then repeat if you are up in the night.
It might taste like crap but it will def help. That was my 'if all else fails' tactic.

Drink about 2 pints of water. Drinking loads can really help

Superworm · 10/06/2014 23:23

Water. Loads of it. You will be up all night peeing but it works.

Purplehonesty · 11/06/2014 19:50

How are you feeling nef?

nefnaf · 12/06/2014 21:10

much much better thanks Purple. I got through the night with the help of 2 litres of water, some painkillers and a stoic attitude. Dr prescribed me antibiotics first thing in the morning due to pain in my pelvis and back, and sweats/shivers. Bastard things, UTI's. Am now stocked with cranberry extract pills and bicarb, and taking it easy. Thanks for checking on me :)

Oh glad to hear you are better. It's the most horrid thing isn't it.
Cranberry tablets are fab, I take the as soon as I feel the first twinge and it usually goes no further.
Take care Smile
