Really worried and scared

I had another thread a few weeks ago here

Saw my GPon Friday described my symptoms, mostly the phantom smoke smells, but I've also had vomiting, nausea, severe headaches, double vision, weird tingles on my face and a complete blank when I was out shopping and couldn't remember my PIN number I've had for 4 years.

Gp is referring me to a neurologist for a ct scan. I've Togo get some blood tests done on Tuesday.

I tried not to google, but I'm an information person, I need to know what it could be, simplest thing to most serious, so I can sort my head out.

Fuck I'm terrified.

Glaikit, you must be frantic. The symptom that jumped out at me was the phantom smoke smell, along with the blanking and severe headaches. I have all of those symptoms before a seizure. The symptoms can come a few days days to a few hours before the onset.

I hope that you get some answers soon..it's sodding hard to have to go through something like this.

GlaikitFizzog · 09/06/2014 02:17

Thank you secret, frantic would be a good description.

GP was really good, but kept saying don't worry, which has had the opposite effect. I don't know how long it will be until I get an appointment. I have healthcare with work, so I'm going to see if I can go through that ifit means I can be seen quicker.

I really need to sleep, I have a DS who will be up at the crack of dawn.

Got a few hours sleep. Ds is full of beans this morning, need to plan something to wear him out, so he has a decent afternoon nap.

Use the private care for sure. You'll be seen much more quickly and get some answers. Hope you get seen very soon, you must be so worried.

GlaikitFizzog · 09/06/2014 12:53

Just a bit! I've had confirmation that I can use my healthcare, which is a relief, just need to wait for the appointment.

Blood tests tomorrow first thing, not sure if they are fasting or not but appointment is early enough I'll just skip breakfast until I get to work.

To add to things my car broke down and had to be towed!

Blood tests are back, I have a low folate level and a prescription for frolic acid to take daily and the want to test for coeliac disease. I'm not sure if that would explain the smoke smell, headaches and memory blanks.

I don't know about the smoke smell but I am coeliac and my memory/thinking etc gets very very foggy if I have gluten.

Make sure you don't give up on or cut down on gluten before you have the coeliac test otherwise it won't work.

GlaikitFizzog · 13/06/2014 18:21

Thanks ceramic, from the NHS website the symptoms of a low folate level are
Common symptoms include tiredness, having little energy (lethargy), feeling faint, and becoming easily breathless.
Less common symptoms include headaches, heartbeats suddenly becoming noticeable (palpitations), altered taste and ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
You may look pale.
Other symptoms may include numbness is your hands and feet. Some people may also have depression.

I've bolded the symptoms I think I have, so it may explain some things, but not others iykwim.

Just thought I would update. I have my neurology appointment through for next Friday.

Still waiting on my coeliac test results.

It may be migraine with aura from your description. I often get strange smells and many of your other symptoms either as the aura for my migraine or during it.

Hope your appointment gives you some answers and solutions.
