Since having the contraceptive implant a couple of months ago I've become so spotty ! I've never needed to wear foundation as I've always had such clear nice skin but I'm now blotchy and covered - face, neck and chest in tons of spots. Any advice on how to get my clear skin back would be great. I've never really had much of a skin care routine. I use moisturiser and suncream.
Please help !

When I was growing up I had the worst acne ever! I tried nearly everything on the market back then, most of them are a con.

Really, you've just got to be ultra hygenic. I use to wash my face 3 times a day if I could, with this foam thing. I still keep a pot of Clearasil pads. Its hard because it goes against every instinct to cover up your face, but as soon as I stopped wearing make-up they cleared up. Also try not to touch your face during the day. But, if you've only just got them your spots are coming from your hormones not from oily/greasy skin or anything like that, I don't know if any of this would help. I ended up getting acne pills.

Also, try putting some boiling/hot water in a bowl, add some tea tree or essential oil and put your head over it with a tea towel over your head. It opens up your pores. Hope you get it sorted soon!

I didn't even think of tea tree! You've just reminded me I had a clear ish couple if days last week after I used it in the bath for my itchy feet ! I will definitely give it a go. Thanks ! I'll try and hold of on the make up. Went back to work last week so started wearing it every day. Thanks.

I think that if you had no issues prior to the implant - then that is where the problem lies. It contains a lot of progesterone, which is renowned for causing oiliness and spots.

I have crappy skin anyway, but I once went on the mini-pill which is progesterone only. Within a fortnight I was a total mess. I stopped taking it straight away. not so easy with the implant.

You can try a good cleansing routine, but I don't know how much it will help hormonal acne.

I would remove the implant ASAP. My cousin had it and developed a bald spot. A serious shiny one at the back of her head. No reason. It got bigger. She removed the implant. Within weeks tiny hairs grew and now it's back to normal.

If you've never had spots and you've just started the implant then that is your probable cause.
