Short Menstrual Cycles

My cycles have gradually been getting shorter over the last 5-7 years.

When I was TTC DS age 36, my average cycle was 25-28 days.

Now age 42, they're about 22 days apart.

Could it be the perimenopause? Or something else? Should I be seeing a GP or having any tests?

I'm the same age as you and my cycles are getting shorter, about 23-25 days.

I'm older than you but this has happened to me in the last 3 or 4 years. I've just assumed it's perimenopausal

mine got suddenly shorter from about age 41 then randomly short or v long (POAS worry long) then last year age 45 disappeared...for seven months only to come back regularly for three months, irregularly for another three and now I haven't had one for three months and hot flushing for Britain.

I went to the doc last year mid-absence and he just said 'do you think it's the menopause? Then it probably is. Wait til you've had no periods for a year then come back for a blood test'.

I think I may be peri menopausal lol

Mmmm, that's what I suspected:perimenopausal. I only had DD a year ago at 41, so it seems so young. I didn't think I'd be that fertile if heading towards the menopause.

I'm also concerned about heart disease risk & bone health too.

Interesting to hear of other's experiences though, in some ways glad I'm not the only one x

You can be peri for about 10 years I think so it might not be so bad

Me too. 39 and cycle ranges from 21 to 23 days. Slthough this one was 25 days and i was just at that 'oh fuck no' moment. 3 weeks is too short, only get 2 weeks free of aching and hassle before it starts all over again.

IKWYM! It just feels constant, plus "down there" is feeling distinctly dry/itchy (sorry TMI). Not really conducive to a sex life Hmm
