Thrush

About 5 years ago i had a bout of thrush that wouldnt shift. Long story short, after numerous trips to gp's and specialists and a lot of creams etc, it went. The whole episode lasted 2 years.

I now have what i thought was thrush. I took an oral tablet and have been using canesten cream. 2 weeks later and it hasnt gone. I took another oral tablet yesterday and no change.

Tonight i have an achey lower tummy similar to last time but do you actually get an ache with thrush.

I just want it to go and soon but i was convinced last time that the amount of creams (including steroids) that i applied last time that made it last so long. My doctor didnt have a clue. He gave me oestrogen cream at one point without any tests to say i needed it. Have had DS2 since so i dont think i needed it.

Is this ache a problem which means it isnt thrush or is it quite normal.

Hiya, the achey pain is completely normal with thrush, I've had it a lot and usually that is my only symptom. Have you seen a gp to get these thrush treatments or did you get them over the counter? I would make an appointment with your gp to have some swabs done, just to double check it is thrush, also they should do a urine test to make sure there is not a urinary infection as in my experience they cause stomach pains too sometimes without any burning. I'm also wondering if it is thrush whether you should have a pessary instead of oral treatment. Just remember you're not actually supposed to take too many oral treatments for thrush as far as I have been told. So mention what you took to your gp. Hope this is of some help :)

I also get an ache with thrush too.

I'm just getting over it now and want to share what I've found - ONLY when you know it's definitely thrush though.

I suffered many many bouts and used the canesten cream and pessary - it would eventually go but would soon return again and again :(

I looked into natural remedies and found Tea tree oil (diluted 1 part tea tree to 20 parts cooled boiled water, soak a tampon then pop it in over night, can also be used to bathe outside areas too) I was completely clear by the third day.
(Do a test first before leaving it overnight - say for 30 mins -1 hour)

A few days ago I realised I had thrush again, first time in well over a year. I didn't have any Tea tree so remembered another natural remedy I'd read about.
Garlic! I was a bit dubious but had nothing else to try. I peeled off the skin, careful not to slice it as it makes the effect stronger. I popped it inside for a few hours to see if it burned or stung. It didn't so I peeled another this time putting a few nicks on it and left it in overnight.
After the second night I was almost clear inside and didn't bother inserting another.
I also crushed some and left it in a little boiled water to make a wash for my outer bits - I'm still using that but it's almost all gone .
