any chance you could be pg? If it was me, i'd go to A & E to get checked and put my mind at rest if it's that bad tbh

don't want to alarm you and i'm not a doctor but it may be an ectopic, especially if you've come on a week early. Can you ring nhs direct?

muma3 · 31/08/2006 11:07

pain and backache gone but when i got out of bed i bled everywhere . it was awful. i have never bled this heavy before. also i have had lots of clots which i have only ever had after i had my 3 girls

could it really be an early miscarriage? staring to think it could be a possibility myself now. feel very tired and drained , bit shaky too

thay may want you checked out, if was pg to make sure its all come away, sorry your going through this

MegaLegs · 31/08/2006 11:27

When this happened to me I saw my gp and was sent to the hospital for a scan. They also did a pg test which was still faintly positive although sadly I had had mc.
Hope you're ok. If it was a mc you might feel odd for a few days as you didn't know you were pg. I had no idea, ds1 was 8 months and I was breastfeeding although not being particularly careful. I felt strange because I though i should be feeling upset but just felt numb.

DelGirl · 31/08/2006 11:33

been keeping an eye on this thread. Hope you're ok muma3, {{{hugs}}}

muma3 · 31/08/2006 11:48

yes im ok , feel a bit odd as i hadnt thought it could be anything and i try not to worry even when it could be serious iykwim. all abit daunting. nurse from nhs direct said she didnt know what was happening but did mention an early miscarriage. said becasue bleeding like this and coming on so early is not normal for me something is wrong . with all the pain yesterday it all makes sense.

dont like the thought of a doctor examining me whilst bleeding though . is there no way of just leaving me ? au natural ?

well, they may not, and I don't think they will give an internal. I've had 2 m/c's and I'm certain I didn't have an internal but I did have a scan and blood tests. Best to get checked over though.

MegaLegs · 31/08/2006 11:58

You must get checked out. Please see your gp. If it was a mc you need to make sure nothing has stayed insitu as this could lead to infection and serious probs. I had an internal scan but the staff were fantastic, calm, reassuring and most of all sympathetic. The fact that you are bleeding doesn't interfere with the scan. I know how you feel, periods are private and the last thing we wan't is someone poking us about down there but they remember they are trained medical staff and are not put off by things like that.

trace2 · 31/08/2006 12:23

please do as the othersw as said i had a bad infection which i ended up in hospital, this could be ovoided

donna3 · 31/08/2006 12:26

Poor you!

Might just be a heavy period but I'd get checked out. If you don't want an internal just tell the GP that, and they won't do it. Its your body after all! I work in A&E and don't do internals routinely for miscarriages as you just see a lot of blood. If you can;t see the GP are are still in pain and bleeding heavily then I'd go to A&E - it'll put your mind at rest at least.
