Really sore boobs

Any advice or info gratefully recieved!

For the last two weeks I have had such sore boobs and in particular nipples. Its painful to wash in the shower and even going downstairs in my dressing gown, sans bra is an ordeal. Gets better as the days goes on but then its back just the same the next day. (by the way I'm a 36dd so don't have Lolo Ferrari bosoomas that would warrant such soreness)

Bit of background, I came off the Depo in January after having it on and off for over 10 years. I had a two year break when I went on Implanon but started to bleed every other week so went back to Depo). Could this be the sign of my first super painful period in over 10 years? Its been so long since I've had one I don't remember what, if any, symptoms I ever suffered with. No other aches or pains in my lower back or anything.

Could it be the long over due Auntie Flo or is there anything else I should rule out by seeing the GP?

Are you under any particular stress at the moment? Mine were so painful for months that I asked the family planning nurse about it and she suggested stress. Funnily enough my father had been diagnosed with cancer, I'd just changed job, split up with my partner and was moving house. They stopped hurting once my life settled down. It could of course be AF - I never used to get sore breasts when I was younger but since I came off the pill I get sore boobs every month which seem to last ages.

Thanks for the replies!

butterflyby I will be honest and admit to not ever having been measured for a bra since that mortifying Saturday when I was 11 and got fitted for my first one. Maybe, at the grand old age of 28, its time I did. Worth a try at least, as you have just made me realise that not only do my boobs hurt, they do feel much bigger and heavier than normal. Not sure if they actually are but definitely feel heavier onme

badger I'm not feeling particularly stressed about anything in particular but I regularly feel a little overwhelmed by all the little things piling up. Just normal stuff I think. I think I will give it a few more weeks, I'm on my hols soon so if a week of lazing on a beach doesn't reduce my stress levels then I will see the GP. I've never suffered with anything like this before so I didn't want to hotfoot it straight there only to be told that "yes, its normal - stop wasting my time!"
