My DS (2) his temp has gradually crept up today to 39.5 at the moment. He ate his lunch and is drinking and all he wants to do is sleep...hes very flushed, is refusing to take calpol...saying "Im alright mummy" keeping him in cool room with just vest on and cotton sheet....Im just a bit worried...shall I just let him sleep it off?

have you tried sponging him down with a tepid flannel?

You could pop some calpol into his juice.

Let him sleep but keep an eye. It may just be one of those 24 hr things.

Keep us updated.

My ds only wants to sleep when he's got a temp, I think their bodies use up so much energy fighting off whatever it is, they're just shattered. Have you got a fan? That often helps a bit I find, ds also hates cold flannels. Would definitely try nurofen, I've found it drops ds's temps really quickly and keeps them down for much longer than calpol.

not a cold flannel... a tepid one.. but I know what you mean.

Sleep will be good. Don't forget that you can alternate the calpol and nurofen (so that it's given 2 hourly)
