Broken nose, feel really ill

Fell over dd's scooter after picking her up from school on Wednesday. I fell really hard. Went to work yesterday, but ended up going to A &e as felt so crap.

They think I've broken my nose. My face is swollen, and can't wear my glasses. But I feel so ill. Sick, tired, aching all over, fragile. Is this right? My nose is killing me as well!

I feel guilty not being at work, but just don't think I could hack it (I'm a teacher, so it's quite an active job in a crowded environment) is it normal to be off sick with a broken nose?

Concussion, possibly?

Orangeanddemons · 16/05/2014 09:24

They didn't think I had concussion. I can't stop crying either

So sorry to hear that. I'd say what your feeling is normal. I ran head first into my bedroom wall at night. My DD was newborn & was choking. My nose was bleeding & I managed to wake up DH & told him to go to DD. When he came back I had a massive bruise on my nose. I thought that I might have broken it. I had it xrayed the next day but it was ok. For a few days I felt very tearful & my nose was so tender.
Don't feel guilty for staying off of work. Just rest as best you can. Have you got tape on your nose? Hope you feel better soon.

Tape? They didn't say anything about tape? Just gave me an appointment for ENT

Gosh you poor thing. Could you be in shock maybe? I don't know much about this but you def aren't well and please don't feel guilty about being off work. I suggest you make a gp appointment to have another look and a chat about how you feel today. Look after yourself. Blimmin scooters..I've nearly tripped over my dc's too. Mind you I quite often trip over my dc let alone their stuff.

HarryisHairy · 16/05/2014 09:36

Don't forget you will be in shock, you have possibly broken a bone in your body and your body is shouting WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!! Hence the sickness, tiredness, achiness. Did they X-ray you at A and E? How long until the ENT appointment.

I'm a teacher and no way would my boss expect me to be in if I'd just broken my nose. Kids quite often bump into you moving between classes or out in the playground. Imagine the health and safety paperwork Wink

HarryisHairy · 16/05/2014 09:37

Oh and of course, I hope you feel better soon. And REST - that's an order

Orangeanddemons · 16/05/2014 09:45

But breaking a nose isn't serious like breaking a leg. Anyway am currently in bed msnet ting, although dh is moaning about having to take time off work to pick dd up from school
