Just been diagnosed - rash on cheek (near eye) and scalp. It's not that painful but I've been googling (of course) and see that the most common complication is neuralgia, especially if the rash is on the face near they eye. I remember my sister having neuralgia years ago and the pain was awful and made her cry and there didn't seem to be any treatment, and from the looks of it there isn't much now. I know I shouldn't be stressing about something that hasn't happened.........anyone got any experience.

You can and should get an anti-viral for this. I forget the name but it was available years ago when I had it. I think it lessens the risk of complications like neuralgia if taken in the early stages. I am not a doctor though!

Thanks kwaker the GP said that the anti viral can only be given in the first 72 hours and I think I'd had the rash since the beginning of the week. I did read though that it lessened the chance of complications so wish I'd been able to have it. I'm not in pain.........yet, so hoping for the best. Thanks anyway.
