Thigh-rub! Any ideas?!

When pregnant last year I put on quite a bit of weight, and due to stress and PND I have put on even more since the birth.

Last summer I had terrible trouble, for the first time in my life, with my thighs rubbing together in hot weather. It was really sore. I tried different products but nothing really worked. I'm dreading the hot weather when I need to have bare legs under light dresses and will be walking funny all over again!

Does anyone know of anything that works? I was thinking perhaps of lightweight shorts that go to mid-thigh? Spanx obviously work but are very hot so not for every day.

Any ideas to save me?!

You need anti chaffing cream! I think it's by Lanacane. It feels like silk when you rub it on. Last year I bought a few tubes when I eventually found some as it's very popular. I got it at the chemist.

Order from eBay or Amazon. Also Evans do 'comfort shorts' like you've described for £8. This is my 1st year of using them both & Im off to Spain soon so glad to have found them.

Hope you're feeling better soon :)

lanacane anti-chaffe is magic

starfishmummy · 15/05/2014 07:36

Another Lanacane user here.

The other option into wear something under the dresses. Have a look for something called cullotte slips. Like a waist slip petticoat but with legs. They can get hot though but are great if chafing has already happened, as are short leggings

I second Evans comfort shorts. I wore them in Mexico last year and they were great. Id tried lanacane but didn't feel it made a difference. The shorts are very lightweight and come in black and white. They are quite long tho so only really suitable under longer dresses.

I found Lanacane worked only for a short time, and no better than white stick deodorant. Same for another product I forget the name of, with cow-print lid. Maybe me size-18 thighs are just too horrendous for products to work ! Was always slim before last summer, so new territory for me :-(.

Ordered comfort shorts, arriving tomorrow. So pleased I am not going to be stymied by this problem again this summer!

Ah well Op I could barely get into size 18 atm so not sure lana cane will help me then-must try before relying on it for hols! Reckon it'll be mostly linen trousers for me again

The "shorts" style control pants that go to about mid thigh are just brilliant for stopping this.

CookieTramp · 15/05/2014 18:53

posh, but don't you find that anything intended to "control" is always too hot for hot days? I get all hot and bothered, although they do the job beautifully on a cooler day.

I buy a size bigger LOL

JimmyCorkhill · 15/05/2014 19:22

Get some Lanacane anyway. I use it as a face primer and it's so smooth. Someone on here recommended it, apparently it has the same ingredients as the fancy Smashbox primer!

JimmyCorkhill · 15/05/2014 19:23

What about these?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/05/2014 19:25

Have you tried Body glide? Its for athletes so might have more longevity than a cosmetic product?

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 15/05/2014 19:28

Google bandelettes I found them useful as cooler than comfort shorts

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/05/2014 19:33

I find stick deodorant better than the Lanacane, longer lasting.

Selks · 15/05/2014 19:39

Ugh I hate those evans 'comfort' shorts - they're like thick nylonny tights and so sweaty.
Anti chafe stick is what you need. Some people also swear by spraying deodorant on their inner thighs.

I used something from amazon called Monistat. Wore it on my wedding day and it was brilliant (though that's a depressing sentence!).
