So I stupidly got a massive (finger length) splinter stuck in my foot last night. Did my best to clean it up, stuck a dressing on it to stop the bleeding and pulled the splinter out.

I now can't put weight on my foot and a load of the skin around it appears to have died. I think there is still splinter in there, not quite sporn but anyone want to tell me how to get it out? It's right against the bone.

i think you should prob get that seen to by someone. gp? or walk in centre if you have one nearby?

My Gp doesn't have any space to see me, Dh is away so I have the three dc with me, I don't think they'd cope well with a walk in centre so I figure I need to do something before dp gets back and I can get to walk in centre on Thursday

Are your tetanus vaccinations up to date, if not you need to get that done.
Try soaking your foot in hot salty water? I would really go to the walk in centre, an infection can mean you end up hospitalised, DH did when an insect bite on his elbow got infected last year, they don't mess around with infections close to bone/joints.

Took myself off to walk in centre, they think that it may have to be cut out under anaesthetic, but gave me tetanus booster, antibiotics and a dressing to draw it out, with painkillers and instructions to come back and tweezer out any wood drawn to the top.

Ouch! Hope it's all better soon.
