Can someone please recommend me a private Dr who specialises in functional/nutritional medicine and is interested in finding out the root cause of illnesses and not just fobbing me of. I would like He/She to be a general practioner but who is willing to do some detective work and dig deeper. I would prefer them to have some knowledge on hormones and endocrinology. I live in west midlands, but am willing to travel, and my budget is around £250. I am not sure if you are allowed to recommend anyone on here but please pm me if you can as I am very desperate. Thank you.

I can't help you, I'm afraid but wanted to warn you very gently that your budget won't cover this in all likelihood. The consultation prices vary a lot but good generally equals more expensive and lab tests are really expensive, too. In addition, you are likely to need several consultations. Can you ask around local practices for a really good nhs GP recommendation?

Hope you get some answers soon.

Thank you matilacat yes I did think that it would cost, I suppose I would need blood tests and other various tests.

If you're not sure what sort of doctor you might need, it might be worth ringing a chain provider like BUPA or Spire to see what they recommend and get their indicative price list.

Thanks med I have already been to spire and saw two consultants and they have been no help tbh, I spent £2oo for half an hour with no answers, but I might try bupa.

No doctor suggestion, but you need to up your budget a lot if you are going to need blood test my last set of private rheumatology tests were just shy of £400 for the lab fees.

There is a forum for thyroid issues in the UK (can't remember the name but google is your friend). Put the same question on that forum and I bet you'd find someone.
